    Discussion
It seems a hot discussion about the last match Serbia vs. Japan broke loose.
Thailand hoped until the definite defeat of Japan for a ticket as the best asian team under the condition Japan kicking off Serbia from their 3rd place. So the hopes and expectations were enormous from Thailand.
After defeating Serbia in the 3rd set with already 2 won sets Japan settled their position on the fourth place and passing past Thailand. To this point Japan seemed to be on the winning road but giving away the forth set and loosing track in the 5th. Hence Serbia ensured their ticket to London and Japan.
Now a lot of echos from the thai fans mentioned a "fixed match".
    My opinion:
Loosing a qualification for the Olympic Games is not as bad as loosing their dignity and face when revealing such a truth. I doubt that professional players with a long history like the japanese would risk such a shame. It is obvious that the tension you need for your goals was gone after the second won set which meant the ticket to London. This is sport and human nature.
Thailand will have it's chance in the future after playing a great and sympathetic tournament - keep on shining!

    26.05. Japan vs. Russia
Russia stays on top unbeatable for Manabes players. This time Japan could not repeat the 3:0 victory over Russia from 2011 at the Fivb World Grand Prix. Although fighting good and very concentrated today (Yuko Sano was worth a mint) it was not possible to get a lead and past the russian block or the very good russian defense. Surprisingly Russia had really big problems with the japanese serving. 12 points were scored directly by japans serving - allowing to catch up (Ebata serve hit two times in a row in the second set.!!!).
Maybe the creative part with Mai Yamaguchi was missing. After causing an error and finishing the first set for the russians she was not brought into action again.
In the end 15 blocking points and 25 attacking points by Ekatarina Gamova were leading to a 3:0 for Russia and throwing Japan back from the 2nd to the 4th place behind Serbia. Today Japan would still be qualified for London being the best asian team after the first 3 places.

    25.05 Japan vs Cuba
Oh my god! That was an intense heart attack match! Cuba was fighting like never before for still having a chance for a ticket to London. But after playing 4 sets Cuba lost their concentration in the fifth set and making a lot of faults resulting in giving the lead to Japan. Japan won the fith set with 17 to 15 points and seems to have ensured the ticket to London -remaining on the second place behind Russia.

    23. May 2012 Japan vs Korea
What an unexpected match ending. Korea defeated Japan for the first time after 2008 in a very powerful and well performed game. From the beginning Japan had to fight for every point but loosing in the middle of the first set sight of korea due to powerful blocks and spikes. After this Japan was more focused to the opponent and winning the second set 25:22.
But somehow Japan could not stand the constant hard spikes and creative play of Kim Yeon Koung and made unnecessary a lot of mistakes. Korea studied Japan very well and made giant steps in the 4th set letting Japan very stunned behind (25:13) and celebrating their first victory over Japan after the last 10  (?) matches.
I think Kim Yeoun Koungs decision to leave the japanese V. league at JT Marvelous was the best she did for the korean team. Gaining in the CEV Champions league in her new club Fernerbahce Universal the "Best scorer" award and returning in 2012 with the new experience from playing in a team with Sokolova (RUS), Fabiana (BRA) or Logan Tom (USA) against Japan.

    20. May 2012  Japan vs. TPE
Congratulation for the second victory of the olympic qualification tournament. Again in 3 Set Japan won against Chinese Taipei. Currently on the first place (by points) closely followed by Russia both teams are the only one's without a lost set and match.

    19. May 2012 Japan vs. Peru
Congratulation for the first victory of the olympic qualification tournament. Japan won in 3 Sets straight against Peru.
